SASE10 Swedish Economic Development, 7,5 credit points (ETCS)

The course examines Swedish economic development in a long-term perspective. It starts with an overview of the agrarian past in Sweden, its peculiarities and its similarities with other regions in Europe. The process of Swedish industrialisation is studies in the general context of economic changes in the 19th century Europe. The development of the welfare state and the Swedish economic model in a comparative perspective is another theme. Particular consideration is given to the high degree of internationalisation of the Swedish economy and Sweden's relationship to the EU.
