The Economic History Department of Lund University has a well established reputation for wide-ranging research programmes with an emphasis on long-term processes, and with economic theory and quantitative methods as important methodological tools.
This research portfolio has been broadened to include institutional and social conditions as well as the history of economic thought. The research is to a large extent financed by grants from both Swedish and international research funds. About 50 active researchers are divided into groups comprising professors, associate professors, doctors and PhD-students. Most of these groups also participate in international programmes and networks
