I was fascinated by the historical fertility decline due to its speed and magnitude. Past research suggest that new family attitudes could explain some of the decline, but there are few studies that specifically analyze the role of the family and the previous generation’s behavior. I found a small correlation between mothers’ and daughters’ childbearing that emerged at the end and after the fertility decline, but mainly among smaller, urban families/Louise
